Tanja Bauerle’s work at the Tempe Center for the Arts

Now through September 19th, work from illustrators around Arizona can be seen at the Tempe Center for the Arts.  Gallery viewing is free.  IKEA has set up little tables and chairs, and kids can make their own little homemade picture books.

My family and I went to the opening on Saturday, July 18th.  I enjoyed getting to meet Tanja Bauerle in person — she is the illustrator for the Wright on Time books.  While all the illustrators were great, Tanja was the star of the show!  Her work is fantastic.  She was showing off her full color painted illustrations for the real life story about two puppies found at the Grand Canyon — a cute picture book called The Adventures of Salt and Soap at Grand Canyon written by Lori Rome.

Check out this article in The Arizona Republic: “Gilbert illustrator’s art on display in Tempe” for more information about Tanja and the illustrator show.

About my blog

Hi, this is me, Nadia from the Wright on Time books. I’m currently 12, but these past posts were written when I was 11.

Most of these blog posts aren’t written in real time.  I’m typing them in from my paper journal as I have time.  That’s why the dates definitely don’t match up with the time frame.

I can’t tell you where we are right now, or I’d spoil the surprises.  What I will do, though, is write these blog posts in order of our traveling adventure.  We started in Arizona and I’ll be talking about the things we did and the things I wish we would have done while we were there.

Bye for now!

Lisa M. Cottrell-Bentley, Author

Lisa M. Cottrell-Bentley has been writing since she was a child, winning her first writing contest at age 9. She’s been writing professionally since 2002. Lisa is an active member of RWA and SCBWI.

Lisa and her daughters spent many hours searching for children’s books about homeschoolers, but found very few. So, they decided to create their own. As they discussed their dream storylines, the Wright on Time series took shape. While they haven’t found any mysterious devices yet, they have done lots of field research trying out many of the activities described in these books.

Lisa lives and learns while writing in southern Arizona with her husband Greg, two happy always homeschooled daughters Zoë and Teagan, and three cats. Her desire is for all people to live their own personal dreams, now and for always.

What is that turtle logo all about?

Wright on Time Turtle Logo

In Arizona, the fictional Wright family finds a mysterious device which shows an image of a turtle with a special symbol in the middle. The symbol is based off of an ancient Mayan glyph called a Hunab Ku symbol. The Mayans believed that the symbol represented the gateway to other galaxies beyond our own sun. Only the maker of the device understands why the Hunab Ku was drawn inside of a turtle.
